Background: We were recently invited to participate in the annual Designers Challenge for the EDPA Chicago Midwest Chapter and present our solution to a RFP. It was a great event with approximately +80 industry professionals venturing to Itasca, IL for a night of steaks, drinks and design. The Designers Challenge was based from an RFP for a new, but fictitious company, CarCell. They will be launching their new consumer-targeted car battery at the Automotive Aftermarket Show. Among many electronic benefits and services, the battery’s primary feature was its 15-years of operating life. In a Gentleman’s contest of skill and style, there was great competition and lively presentations from the design team at Ion Exhibits and the students of Harrington Design School.
Sketch to Concept: With a proposed budget of $85K for design+build, and many client demands, we tackled the problem with a sketch-focused mindset. We were able to quickly cultivate successful ideas from our process of research and ideation. Our final concept impressed attendees with its simplicity and eye-catching visuals. We feel the design arrives just below the proposed budget with easy setup in mind.
